10001 - How to Give Effective Feedback and Manage a Learner in Difficulty
Course Description
Across medical education programs, there are times when clinicians must support learners who are struggling. This workshop will include practical approaches to the support and management of learners who present with challenging behaviors in clinical learning contexts. Participants will engage with colleagues to propose solutions to teaching vignettes, and discuss examples drawn from recent learner interactions. All Schulich faculty are welcomed to join the Windsor team.
Making the most out of Your workshop.
Our facilitators would like to share your experience with a learner in difficulty. You are welcomed to submit a brief (minimum 4 sentences-maximum 500 word) description of a faculty-learner situation that you or your colleagues found challenging. Do not include any identifying information. Tell us a little about the teaching context, the learner’s actions/behaviors, the faculty member’s response, and any outstanding concerns. Please forward any questions, and your completed case to stephanie.giberson-kirby@schulich.uwo.ca. Cases will be reviewed by our team and included in a collegial discussion during the second half of the workshop.
Delivery:
