Course Description

 

Whether you’re up for promotion next year or in five years, in order to be successful, it is important to be aware of the University requirements for promotion and the granting of continuing appointments. Clinical academics at the Assistant Professor rank can benefit from this practical workshop, which will provide guidance on preparing teaching dossiers, promoting dossiers, and presenting your case.

What You Will Learn

Asynchronous: Learn at your own pace

Synchronous: Live session

Overall Learning Objectives:

  • Describe challenges in the promotion process and identify strategies to overcome these challenges
  • Critique examples of Teaching Philosophies and Candidates Statements for the purpose of making suggested improvements
  • Identify resources that may be helpful to access during the promotion process
  • Develop a network of colleagues who may be of mutual benefit in supporting each other through the promotion process.

6.5 hours completed online through an asynchronous learning management system.  Synchronous, live, online session is 90 minutes covering topics from asynchronous, work at your own pace materials.  Come to the 90 minute session prepared with questions, draft documents ready for feedback and a familiarity with the promotions process and expectations.  Select only one live, online, 90-minute session.  Asynchronous materials are available on the learning management system for an unlimited timeframe following the course.
